A Message from the Race Director
Hello,
First, I'd like to thank you for taking the time to read this message and for your consideration of running the Tigertown 10k & 5k on November 5th.
As race director, my primary goal is quite simple; to produce a race that I am proud of, and that you will enjoy participating in. Much of the time, races that are started as fundraisers for an organization lack fundamental characteristics that are vital to creating an enjoyable event. As a long time runner, I have experienced, first hand, just about every type of race you can possibly imagine. I have competed in races ranging from a couple dozen people, all the way up to major marathons with tens of thousands of runners.
Over my years as a runner, I've personally suffered through waiting hours for an awards ceremony to begin, I've run "races" with volunteers so incompetent that I had to ask "where's the finish?" as I was running up to it, and I've run countless races for which the results were never posted online despite been told that they would be.
At the Tigertown 10k, I can promise that you'll be treated to an extremely well organized event. We will have one aid station on the 5k course, and an additional 2 for the 10k after they break off from the 5k route. The course will be very well marked and we will have abundant police support to ensure everyone's safety. Finally, the finish on the Lower Intramural Field will feature a long finishing chute to prevent any spectators from interfering with your finish, and results will be posted immediately following the awards presentation scheduled to take place promptly by 10:30am. If all competitors are finished prior to that time, the award ceremony may begin early.
Again, I thank you for considering the Tigertown 10k, and I promise that you will not be disappointed should you decide to run on October 27th!
Sincerely,
Nicholas Sykes
